Why a safe will not open

We solve safe access problems every day.

Do not force the lock or keep entering codes if something feels wrong. Further attempts can make the fault more difficult to repair.

Lost or stolen keys

We can assess the safe, open it and advise on replacement locks or keys if security has been compromised.

Forgotten combinations

If the combination is no longer available, an engineer can inspect the safe and recommend the safest route to access.

Failed electronic keypads

Battery, keypad and electronic lock faults can prevent access even when the correct code is being used.

Jammed bolts or lock faults

Worn components, internal damage and mechanical faults can stop the door from releasing normally.

What happens next

A clear, professional safe opening process.

We assess the safe and the fault before deciding on the most suitable method. Detailed opening techniques are not discussed for security reasons.

STEP 01

Tell us what happened

Share the safe make, lock type, location and any symptoms you have noticed.

STEP 02

Confirm ownership

We may ask for identification or proof that you are authorised to access the safe.

STEP 03

Assess and open

The engineer inspects the fault and uses a suitable approach, with non-destructive opening where appropriate.

STEP 04

Restore security

We can repair the safe, replace the lock, change the combination or arrange new keys.

Mechanical and electronic safe locks

After the safe is open

Opening the safe is only part of the job.

Once access has been restored, we can help make the safe secure and reliable again.

  • Repair or replace damaged mechanical locks
  • Upgrade to a suitable electronic safe lock
  • Change a compromised combination
  • Cut additional or replacement safe keys
  • Service and adjust the boltwork

Safe opening questions

What customers usually ask us.

If your question is not covered here, call and speak directly to an engineer.

Can you open a safe without damaging it?

Non-destructive opening is used where appropriate. The right approach depends on the safe, the lock and the fault, so the engineer will assess these before beginning work.

Can you help if I have lost the safe keys?

Yes. We can assess the safe, restore access and advise on a replacement lock or new keys. If the keys may have been stolen, replacing the lock is usually the safer option.

What information should I send you?

The safe make, your location and a short description of the problem are helpful. Clear photographs of the safe, lock, keypad and manufacturer plate can make the initial assessment easier.

Can you repair the lock after opening the safe?

In many cases, yes. We can inspect the lock and boltwork, repair damage, fit a replacement lock or arrange a suitable electronic upgrade.

Do I need to prove that the safe belongs to me?

We may ask for identification or proof that you are authorised to access the safe. This protects customers and supports responsible safe engineering work.
